As you’ve heard me say many times, we looked and looked for a home for Mom and Dad and we weren’t happy until we found A Kind Heart. The name completely sums up the loving care you provided them. We learned by looking that the single most important part of a great place is only THE PEOPLE and what’s in their hearts when they care for their resident family.
Mom and Dad really enjoyed being at AKH, which was such a relief to all of us in the family. We hated to have them living away from a family member, but they needed a lot of help with daily care and none of us were able to manage it. AKH provided them with a safe, loving, caring home where they felt truly at home. They loved the people, the food and their surroundings. When we made frequent visits, we were always welcomed and had fun with Mom and Dad, as well as the staff.
One part that was unique and should be mentioned. As they approached the end of their lives, they didn’t have to re-locate and start over by getting to know a new group of care givers or new surroundings at a nursing home or other end of life place which would have been very depressing. Being able to stay at A Kind Heart was a HUGE plus for them and the family. It was such a relief to know they were home and wouldn’t have to move again. I think being at AKH helped them live longer, happier lives. Naturally, they are deeply missed, but at least we know they were in good hands until the end. Dad was 99 and Mom was 95.

When my mom needed more attention than institutional care provided, with memory issues as well, A Kind Heart was so comforting and helpful. They even moved her in. The caregivers were all genuine and skillful, and always cheerful. They accommodated her dietary preferences and coordinated all her on-site care, recommending excellent primary care and auxiliary providers. The facility is lovely, clean and spacious, with a nice outdoor space. Great communication with the family was always possible. When hospice was necessary, it was a seamless process, as they worked with the hospice nurse to increase care levels. Excellent care, wonderful setting, and peace of mind, always.
